Emergency Preparedness Packets By Joseph Parish We often think we are prepared for just about every situation that could possibly occur to us. During our normal conversations we are always talking about their emergency preparedness plans as well as how well we have stocked up on supplies of water and various canned goods. We tell others of our plans to move to a farm in the country and of purchasing livestock and of our long range plans to learn how to make our own soap and other normal day to day items. Our goal is total self sufficiency in the event of an emergency. I don’t worry about those kinds of things as I have created a plan to deal with many of the daily items that we would need to make our isolated life bearable. I have a 5 gallon bucket in my food storage room that is completely dedicated to holding the various condiment packets that one gets from the various fast food restaurants. There are Arby’s sauce packets, various taco bell sauces and a vast assortment of catsup, mustard and mayo packs from the local McD’s. If you don’t go to fast food restaurants you can still store up on these items by purchasing a small box at your local Sam’s club. We all seem to store items like canned Tuna for those emergency situations and canned tuna tends to be very unattractive to the palate when it is right out of the can. If you mix some mayo with it the flavor gets much better. The problem with this is that when you open a jar of mayo it has to be refrigerated then. Why not add a couple of the mayo packets instead. This way you use only what is needed. Who says that emergency plans are created for you to rough it? Copyright @2008 Joseph Parish
