How to build a personal reservoir of
water Having a source of clean water is
crucial for survival in the wilderness. Water in fact is
more crucial than food itself. In this article, we will
illustrate a method of building a personal reservoir for
water storage.
For this method you will need the following things:
1. Water proof sheet - This can be from hiking
equipment stores.
2. Spade or some other digging tools - This is used for
digging the reservoir.
3. Palm-sized or bigger non porous rocks
Setting up instructions
Firstly, using the spade dig a large circular hole in the
ground.
Next, line the hole with the waterproof sheet. This is to
prevent water from draining into the ground.
Next, place the rocks around the edge of the hole. This
is to secure the waterproof sheet in place.
It is a good idea to make a lid as well to cover the
water. This will prevent dirt from falling onto it. Also,
it will slow down water loss by evaporation.
The water should not be kept for too long. It is not
advisable to drink water that has stagnated in the
reservoir for over three or four day.
