Ruby Ridge Revisited
By Joseph Parish
Most people have heard about the historical 1992 violent confrontation at Ruby Ridge in the state of Idaho between the Randy Weaver family and federal agents. Randy moved his family to Idaho in an attempt escape what he termed a corrupt world. His plans were to home school his small children and live peacefully away from society. His wife Vicki was a firm believer that the apocalypse was soon to occur and believed that her family would be safe in their remote mountain area.
Terry Kinnison who was a neighbor of Randyís was involved in a land dispute and as a consequence sent several letters to the local sheriff, the secret service and the FBI where he alleged that Weaver had verbally threatened to kill the President of the United States, the governor of Idaho and the Pope. Naturally the secret service and FBI began an investigation into the claims. The Secret Service had been told that Randy Weaver was an Aryan Nations member and possessed a vast store of weapons at his residence to which Mr. Weaver continued to deny both allegations.
As situations would have it Mr. Weaver ended up trying to sell an undercover agent several sawed off shotguns in 1989. From there it was all downhill. We naturally know what the outcome was and sadly many useless deaths resulted. The problem that I see is that with the circumstances as they are with our current government this same situation could easily happen again.
Like Weaver many of us have a grave mistrust for our current government however we must somehow turn this lack of confidence into something more to our advantage. Often times our government displays a series of mixed signals that can frequently confuse anyone involved in a situation. My purpose in this article is to give you some insight into how to survive such a siege should it happen to you and your family.
As in Weavers case the attacks are generally the end result of someoneís vendetta against you. False reports are usually turned into a government agency in order to annoy and pester you and your family. The source of these false claims is frequently an unhappy business partner or an individual with something to gain from you being harassed.
Our government agencies are very proficient at disturbing people's sleep and instilling a sense of fear with their usual tactics. Their initial goals rely upon fear and psychological warfare tactics to uproot your sense of logic. It is not unusual to find that the agency in question will fly helicopters over your home at all hours of the night while shining blinding lights towards your windows in their efforts to disturb your sleep. It would not be surprising to view on your television set a scene showing the huge arsenal of weapons such as tanks, etc that are awaiting near your doorstep.
These are physiological operations and they prey upon your nerves during those sleepless nights amidst your endless fears of never knowing for sure when you will be attacked or who within your group may be killed or wounded. The complete idea here is to provoke you into taking the first shot in order to justify retaliation. Donít fail for this trick.
Part of the planned attack will more then likely include elimination of your means of communication with the outside world. They are likely to turn off your water supply as well as your electricity all in the interest of harassment. You can be sure that they will quickly put a halt to any food supplies entering your area. Snipers will be watching with assignments to take out anyone who they suspect may be the ringleader or in charge of the actions. Ruby Ridge has shown that the government would not hesitate to use these weapons on children as well as adults.
When these types of sieges occur there is more involved then one may imagine. Our very democracy is under siege, our active rule of law is under siege and our normal way of life is threatened. Since we have a natural distrust for the government we are not alone. Many Americans feel the same way therefore media attention is the key not shootouts and death to the end.
During any type of government siege we are over run. There is simply no way around it. We can not win by fighting back with guns or weapons. Death is the only alternative in this course of action. However I am a firm believer that if one can hold off long enough to obtain media attention then possible surrender is useful for us. I am a believer that there is another day an as such would recommend that cooperation be provided to the agencies. We can win but not if we are buried in the ground. One must live to fight another day. Retreat for this purpose is not dishonorable in the least.
