My personal Library By Joseph Parish I have always been a great fan of books and continually support the act of reading. Although most of the books which I read are generally non-fiction I do in fact partake of fiction on occasion. In my actual physical library I have a complete collection of Stephen King first editions. Each copy is in mint condition and in some cases I even have both the European and American printings. But enough on my physical library, I would like to talk more about the digital version. In my office I have two 1 terabyte drives. The first one has my PFD library files on it. Even though I currently have thousands of books that are saved to it I have hardly used a small portion of the terabyte drive. This is good however just in case I have the 2nd drive available. I would venture to guess that I probably have more digital books on my terabyte then our local libraries have in their collections. I am amassing these books on my portable hard drive so that in the event of a bug out I have them available. These drives plug into an empty USB port and are instantly useable. A PDF reader is installed on the drive in case I don’t have one on the computer that I am using. I will have all the literature and how to’s that I would need to survive an extended bug out situation. I have also searched the net in an effort to preserve as much survival information as I possibly could. All this information now is saved to the terabyte. I have included non-fiction, fiction and various notes that I have come across. I have recipes that range from the simple to the more complex. Medical books and scientific journals are all located readily on my drive. If I happen to come across magazines I proceed to save them also. There is a good possibility that the way which the world is heading today we may not have public libraries in the near future. Even as we speak libraries are feeling the economic crunch more so now then they ever have in the past. Local libraries represent a vital part of our society and tend to contribute greatly to the well being of our community. Drastic financial cuts are currently in the making, generated by the authorities in a desperate attempt to save money. I really hate to see this happen but if it must be so at least I can honestly say that I have my personal library available and you can find me in the easy chair reading away.
