28, 2008 - "Emergency storage quantities for fuel related
items" By Joseph Parish. Just about everyone stores candles for emergencies
however very few people really know how many to store up on. To judge the time
it takes for a candle to melt you must consider its diameter as well as the
length. A candle which is ¾ of an inch in diameter and 4 inches long will burn
for approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes, while one which is 7/8 of an inch but
the same length will burn for 5 hours. The two inch diameters will maintain a
light for approximately 7 hours per inch.

26, 2008 - Many survivalists believe that they must have a dog in order to
survive. Unfortunately many believe hat the dogs job is to stop any intruders
from obtaining entry into their safety zone. Nothing could be further from the
truth. If you have a dog the first thing you should understand is that the dogs
only purpose is to Notify you of intruders. Please keep in mind it doesn't
matter how mean your dog is a 357 will take it out. Teach your dog to be
obedient and to notify you when someone enters your space that and nothing else.

"Don’t
try to open a church with a church key" By
Joseph Parish. I can
remember when I was growing up my father would always
mention a “Church Key” and all his friends and family
knew perfectly well what he was talking about. Today few
of the current generation have any concept of what a
“Church key” is. Now, we are talking about 1930 - 1960 as
a time frame for this slang used to designate a common
bottle opener.

"Bacteria can be present in snow" By Joseph Parish. Many people remember the
tongue in cheek comments made concerning eating of yellow snow however, recent
investigations have now reviewed that it is no longer merely the yellow snow
which one should not digest. Current research that has been conducted is
concluding that all the unique snowflakes which fall from above may possibly
contain an abundance of potentially dangerous bacteria.
